Definitely unexpected.

Its just a story, it is not as depressing as it sounds.

“Oh fuck! I’m in trouble,” she whispered softly to herself. She quietly looks at him while he was slouching lazily on the plush brown couch looking exhausted after a long day of work.

He is an unexpected surprise.

She felt something in him that attracts her. “Eeewww! Him?” she laughed. It couldn’t be true, maybe her imagination was simply running wild like a mad stallion trapped in a blazing ring.

She exhales slowly, “I’m just hallucinating.”

At that instant, she blamed it on the winter, maybe boredom. “Let’s take a closer look!” she added. It was then he turned, she quickly look away feeling slightly embarrassed. She felt an instant twist in her stomach; her body was numb while her heart was like a beating drum. Being totally unaware of the moments that were conspiring against her, she’s fallen for him. She barely knew him; and they were worlds apart. That night, she diving straight down to hell.

“America, what have I done to you to deserve this,” she asked silently.

Each time they meet, she tries to find clarity in his eyes; was it the little things he did or that was just the way he made her feel. He beca
me a piece of memory she cannot erase. He really had no idea what he was capable of. His uniqueness was like an ecstasy, where she couldn’t get enough of it.

Soon, he became an absolutely joy to look at though there was nothing attractive about him. He is the type of guy whose head you’d like to spend some time in but he
isn’t the perfect man art. There was nothing sexy, nothing remotely close to an English bloke - David Beckham or Robert Pattinson.

The memories of the days they spent together slowly haunt her day and night. She couldn’t bear to recount the criteria he failed to accomplish as the perfect man art and her “list – of the man-to-date”. “What could I possibly like about him?"
she repeatedly asks herself every night before falling asleep.

Things were going to be different. As days started, nights ended and days passed once more, she prays every night for it to be a dream. But he was both a dream and a nightmare. The line in bet
ween the two kills her, over and over and over again….

That morning he became too much for her to handle.

It was a beautiful winter morning; the sun shines throug
h the sliding door, forcing its way between the navy blue curtains. She stretched lazily on her bed. She sat up straight and gazed over to her right. He was asleep, more tranquil than ever. She watched his beautiful face as he breathed softly. “I know almost nothing about you.” she blurts out. Time stood still for her, she recalls the words and laughter exchanged and the lengthy conversation they used to have.

She craned her neck upwards, took a deep breathe and steadied herself. “You could only be my dream,” she said as she titled her chin down, lips pursed. She felt tears rolling down her cheek, they just kept on coming.
The dreadful depression started kick
ing in as she sits on her bed starring blankly at the curtains. “What the fuck happen to me!?!?” she asked annoyingly. She wished this could stop.

She fallen in love with someone she shouldn't have fallen in love with.
It was the biggest mistake she made. As she stepped out the plane, she turns her head to the right and doesn’t see him by her side she nodded and smile. All the memories with him could only be a good dream that must be burn away.

As she types this, the enormous weight had been lifted off her shoulders. She realized that he can never be the one who walk her through life. He will always remain as her America’s-little-secret.

Till then,
xoxo

Me, you and roadtrips

Roll over Obama land, the summer no longer belongs to you. We are doing it the Malaysian way. For now.

When I came back from The States, I seriously can’t wait to go on another short trip with this group of friends. After much thought, we decided to drive up North to Penang and along the way we stopped by Ipoh for a family visit. It has been a long time since I last saw Penang; my last visit was at the age of 8-12 years old.

It has been said that eating along the roadside or hawker stalls is the actual Malaysian experience and it represent the local's character. Of course, Wikipedia and Yahoo travel did not prepare me for such experience. Penang is a city for exotic traditional food such as loh pak (some fried food), chow keoy teow, oh-jian (fried oyster with egg), chu-zap-zhou (pig intestine porridge) and many more. (Correct me if I am wrong.) It was all so vintage; completely unlike Selangor. It was surprising.

I knew I was in good hands; the host T-yee was absolutely fantastic. I greatly enjoyed the food, the company, and the scenery. The friends I travelled with, do you really need to ask? Damn, they are the best. What more could I ask for.

I consider myself a lucky person to have friends like them; who can some how tolerate my spoiled child syndrome. I couldn't’t bear to recount the details - temper tantrums, lack of consideration for other people, demands for having one's own way and etc.

In short, this trip was suppose to just eat-sleep and relax trip. I don’t remember how this group manage to talk me into eating at the roadside (don’t get me wrong, it was good food!), climbing up hill to a temple filled with red scary lights- at night, going to another temple the next day, talking for an hour and more about how “Scary” is scary. It was challenging and memorable.

Trust me, tell 10 of my friends especially my best friends. “Emily Ho went to the temple during her road trip.” I swear everyone will be like Felix- turns his head to the left, walk closer and bangs his head on the glass with evil laughter. Everyone will shake their heads in disbelief and laugh even harder. Even my mother was shocked over the phone, “Harh!? Where are you again?.. Good, go pray more.” – this is true.

Enough of my ramblings, enjoy the photos.

P/s. Felix Chung ditched us for Starbucks.

Till then, xoxo
